My lovely hometown of Kirkcudbright hosted the lovely Riding of the Marches and my cousin has been really lucky to be a part of it over the last couple of years in various areas and this year was no different. She did get some lovely pink accessories for her birthday at the start of the month which made her stand out from the massive crowd of 108 horses. Wowzers!
Below are some photos I took and a couple of videos of the full parade.
The Riding of the Marches takes place every year at the end of July and follows the path outlined from the original path declared a Royal Burgh, which just so happens to include the street I live on so we just stand in the front garden (or look through the window if it’s raining) to watch the parade. There are always so many beautiful horses and well-dressed riders you can’t help but feel happy and proud of all the people involved. It’s just a shame that horses have no control over their bowels.
Have you ever been at the Riding of the Marches?
