Redwood Massacre (2014) – I came across this one night and was in the mood for a nice slasher. I wasn’t disappointed. Although I wasn’t ever scared, like heart racing, worried when the killer’s gonna jump out sorta thing, it was still quite a good film. The level of torture he puts in does give you chills if you end up thinking about in the middle of the night days later. Also, it’s pretty funny because the cast are Scottish and as a fellow Scot, I found it hilarious to picture a horror with our accent.
Wicked Little Things (2006) – I watched this film years ago and was a bit scared then the ending just gave me the feels. It starts in the mining days where kids were used to crawl into the small crevasses in the mines and the owner one day decides to blow up the mine and all the children die… They return as zombies and murder anyone who is not their blood in the hopes they’re find the relative to the owner of the mine who killed them. The ending is just so satisfying when you realise why they’re doing it and then they’re back to being happy little kids again. It’s a good’un.
Hercules (2014) – I was skeptical about this since I am a die-hard Disney’s Hercules fan but it works so well. It’s not so much about claiming The Rock is Hercules, but rather that the perception of the people that he is, is what makes him Hercules. It’s a really good action movie and I just love Dwayne Johnson anyway. I mean, have you seen his Instagram?
Sydney White (2007) – It’s been a while since I’ve seen this film. It’s a modern take on the classic Snow White with Amanda Bynes playing Sydney – a young girl starting college and trying to pledge her dead mother’s sorority ends up in a house of 7 outcasts and fights for acceptance, while catching the attention of a cute suitor. This film is one for the girls!
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (2015-) – This is surprisingly funny. A group of women have just been released from an underground bunker 15 years after being told the world had ended by some weirdo reverend. Kimmy decides to stay in NYC and start a new life. This show goes through all the different aspects of her new life like getting a job and going back to school. It’s full of hilarious one-liners as Kimmy is completely unaware of how the modern world works.
Parks and Recreation (2009-) – I’ve binge-watched the first 3 seasons already. It’s got lots of laughs and a great cast. The Parks and Recreation department in the small Indiana town of Pawnee desperately try to make the town a better place and pave the way for hilarious antics.
Have you watched any of these? What have you watched this week?
